Election Schedule Bylaws Amendment Sole Survivor

Out of the three to five bylaws amendments proposed by PNB members for consideration during this year's election, sufficient delegate assemblies and the National Board approved only the Election Schedule bylaws amendment. While the failed amendments would have required a vote of the membership, the surviving one does not. Pacifica will conduct the 2009 election according to the amended bylaws.

KPFA Delegates Approve One of Three Proposed Bylaws Amendments

[per Brian Edwards-Tiekert]

Bylaws amendment #1 (changing the elections calendar):: PASSES, 14 Y, 3 N, 1 A

Bylaws amendment #2 (extending delegate terms to 4 years): FAILS, 17 N, 1 Y, 2 A

Bylaws amendment #3 (3 options for term limits): Brian Edwards-Tiekert makes a point of order that the amendment is illegal for the following reasons:

Wonderwheel on Campaign Mailings Substitute Motion

...if I were the chair of the PNB I would rule that the resolution recommended by the committee is out of order as a resolution that does not comply with the law as stated in Section 6330 and 5520. On that basis I would not even allow it to be debated.
