Deb Shafto Candidate Statement

I am a long time peace activist and a pre-kindergarten teacher for many years. I believe that the station is essential in our struggle to create a world that works for everyone with no one left out. I have been an active Green Party member and have served as co-chair and on the steering committee.

I have served on the KPFT Board since the take back in 2000, both on the local and for 1 year on the PNB. I have chaired the governance committee, the bylaws committee and I was chair of the LAB when we wrote the bylaws. I have served on the national coordinating committee, the committees of elections, governance as well as the sub committees on bylaws revisions. I am thoroughly familiar with the issues that face our station and our network and I bring energy and a willingness to find new solutions.

I am looking forward to our new board which has excellent candidates and with whom I believe we can move into the future.
