Ballot Counting Procedure

KPFA Board Election 2006 ballots will be counted on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the:
Bay Area Alternative Press (BAAP)
1847 Alcatraz Avenue
Berkeley, CA 94703

Counting, opening and scanning of ballots will start at 3pm.

Volunteers are needed! We have thousands of ballots to process. Contact the Election Supervisor Tracy Rosenberg at 510-848-6767 x266 or ballot@kpfa.org if you can volunteer some time.

After all of the ballots are counted, opened and scanned, they will be run through a computer system for collating the data and results will be announced between 8pm and midnight on the 17th.

Any foundation member is welcome to observe all or a part of the process, including the ballot transfer from the off-site, secured storage facility. (Contact the election supervisor at 510-848-6767 x266 or ballot@kpfa.org for details on observing ballot transfer).

Opening and scanning of ballots is anticipated to take from 2-6 hours, depending on the final number of ballots and the number of volunteers assisting. Any foundation member, except a candidate themselves, is welcome to assist with ballot scanning. Candidates are restricted to observation.

Computer processing of the ballots will be performed by the National and Local Election Supervisors, and is anticipated to take approximately two hours. Any foundation member is welcome to observe and the computer process should be followed by the announcement of the results of the election.

Please volunteer to help! We need you.
