![]() ![]() ![]() Eben Ray Candidate StatementMy name is Eben Rey and I am running for one of the treasured spots on the Local Station Board for unpaid staff. I have been a part of the KPFK community for over 7 years and have served the mission of KPFK in various capacities. I have been a board op for morning drive time, part of the production staff, served as staff rep on previous station boards, assisted on special projects and remotes and I volunteer as a programmer for Something's Happening with Roy of Hollywood. This work has provided me with a great breath of understanding of the precious gem that is KPFK and why we must continue to strengthen its presence in Southern California and connection to you, our listeners. My interest in serving on the Local Station Board would be to bring unity and support to the programmers, staff and management of KPFK, by listening to their concerns, showing respect for the great work they are performing daily, working on transparency issues surrounding station operations and providing the tools to make the station even better. I came into KPFK during Mark Schubb's tenure when training workshops welcomed new blood into the station and gave them the skills to succeed. These training protocols have ceased to exist and should be reinstituted. There has been good news concerning our struggle to reclaim our transmitter frequency in the San Diego area. These listeners, who have had their signal blocked for years, can be reunited with their Los Angeles listener family, but only if we stay vigilant on the process underway. And of course more listeners could mean shorter fund drives! In addition KPFK will hopefully take a bigger role in sponsoring events throughout the southland, to build awareness and partner with entities of like mind. There are so many great things in store for KPFK. As we get back to the mission of bridging divides through music, art and politics we have and will always prove the naysayers wrong! This is a very exciting time for KPFK and I hope to be a part of the LSB to aid in our continued success. Trackback(0)

Phil T. Rich: ...
WBAI is bankrupt. These elections should be cancelled and redone due to the censorship of the candidates that is taking place.
