Mary Dennis Candidate Statement

My name is Mary Dennis and I am running for re-election to the LSB.

There are many words that can be used in a LSB statement, as there are many words that are associated with the LSB and the LSB meetings. But the simple reality, what it comes down to, is ACTION. We need action and commitment! We need people willing to get involved, roll up their sleeves, and do what needs to be done. We need to move forward with plans and make things happen. Everyone always has a lot of good ideas. We can talk about ideas all day long. It is time to put those ideas into motion. I am ready to move forward.

The LSB as a body is still in its infancy. There are so many steps still to be taken. So far, we have been treading through the unknown waters, taking the unsure steps. We as individuals, though, have that experience to put the steps in place, to move forward. Together we will make the LSB a mature, knowledgeable group that can help lead KPFT into the future. I am ready to move into the future.

I have been on the LSB for the past three years. I am prepared to continue the work for KPFT. For the majority of my time on the Board I have been the proud co-chair of the Outreach Committee. I have seen the committee go from an on-again, off-again group to an organized team of people, always ready and willing to spring into action and support, sponsor, and work the events for KPFT. The committee has consistently met month after month and had a presence at numerous events throughout the year. We have been there to carry the KPFT banner. I am proud to be a part of that incredible committee and hope to continue to bring that representation to the LSB.

In the last election I said that KPFT was a unique gift and I still believe that. KPFT is not just any one program or any one type of music. It is so much more. KPFT is a community, a diverse community of individuals, coming together to hear that alternative voice, that voice that we are not allowed to hear anywhere else. I wish to be a part of the KPFT LSB community and I will make the commitment to ensure that we are moving forward and that we have action plans. I will, as always, CELEBRATE DIVERSITY and CELEBRATE KPFT!

WBAI is bankrupt. These elections should be cancelled and redone due to the censorship of the candidates that is taking place.
