Raymundo Reynoso Candidate Statement

Writer/Journalist with over 25 years of experience in printed and electronic media.

I wish for KPFK to become a stronger and committed institution that promotes the values of our diverse communities.

Reynoso edits a daily online news service that is distributed to subscribers in the US, Latin America and Europe. Writes extensively –his column, Connotaciones has been referenced by fellow journalists in several countries’ newspapers, his interviews have been translated to many different languages and reproduced in numerous alternative media outlets- has been keynote speaker in conferences, has had his essays on communication printed in literary and trade publications, and served as reference material at educational institutions.

  • Host/co-producer of Perspectiva de las Americas, a weekly Spanish language program broadcast on KPFK, Mondays 9:30-10:30 p.m .
  • Director of AMATE, Agencia de Medios Alternativos y Taller Editorial/Alternative Media Agency and Trade Editions, established in 1995.
  • Publisher, Sintesis, a monthly Spanish language magazine (1997- 2000).
  • Member of the Latin American and Caribbean Congress of Journalists, founded in October of 2001.
  • Associated member of FELAP, Federación Latinoamericana de Periodistas.
  • Member of the Raza Press Association.
  • Vice President of the judging panel of the 10th International José Martí Journalism Award (1995), La Habana, Cuba.
  • Contributing Writer for Prensa Latina, Latin-American news service agency founded by Ernesto Che Guevara.
  • Founding member of the Colectivo Latinoamericano, group that pioneered the broadcasting of Spanish programming on KPFK in the early 1980’s.
  • Literary, Media and Music advisor (1987-1996) to Macondo Cultural Center, a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles.
  • Staff Member (1981-1986), International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU).
  • Reporter and Editor (1986-1996), La Opinion Newspaper.

WBAI is bankrupt. These elections should be cancelled and redone due to the censorship of candidates that is taking place.
