He will draw on his journalism background to bring consistency and stability to the station and his proven leadership skills to further the Pacifica mission in Southern California. He will also work to insure the KPFK broadcast day better reflects the diversity of our amazing audience, lessening the hold of dynastic volunteer programmers to finally give listeners a more direct role in determining what they hear on their radio station.

Steve Pride has been a KPFK volunteer programmer for the past 10 years working on the weekly LGBT radio magazine IMRU. His work on that show has garnered KPFK five Golden Mike Awards from the RADIO & TELEVISION NEWS ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (RTNA). Steve currently serves on the BOARD OF DIRECTORS of the Washington D.C. based NATIONAL LESBIAN AND GAY JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION (NLGJA). He also heads the NLGJA Arts& Entertainment Reporters Caucus and serves on the Diversity Oversight Committee, the Fundraising/Development Task Force, the Chapter Diversity Programming Task Force, the LGBT Media Task Force and served as PRESIDENT of the NLGJA 150 member Los Angeles Chapter for four years.
