National Elections Supervisor Ruling on Term Limits for the 2007 Pacifica elections

The following is the official ruling of the National Elections Supervisor regarding how provisions for term limits in the Pacifica Bylaws will affect this year's elections for Local Station Board:

Delegates who were elected to a short term on a Local Station Board in February 2004, then subsequently re-elected to a full term later in 2004:

LSB Duties

Local Station Boards have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Actively reaching out to under-represented communities to help the station serve a diversity of all races, creeds, colors and nations, classes, genders and sexual orientations and ages. The Local Station Board is also directed to help build collaborative relations with organizations working for similar purposes.

• Assisting the station in fundraising activities.

Powered by the People

The Pacifica Foundation operates a fiercely independent noncommercial radio network that is truly powered by the people.

The governing boards of all 5 stations are elected by Listener Sponsors and station staff. We use a democratic process of proportional representation known as Single Transferable Voting (STV).

You too can participate in the governance of America's premier avenue for cultural interchange, unfettered news and the kind of free speech that our ancestors proudly fought and died for.
